One of the most frequently asked questions I get is: “where do you shop for your dresses?!”

When I’m traveling, I always pack tons of dresses because… they are just so comfortable!  Maxi dresses are typically flowy and semi-loose and many are made with breathable fabrics so you won’t get too hot.  For those cooler days, simply add a jacket or a sweater and you’re good to go. And, I absolutely love that their length means that you don’t have to worry about your dress flying up on a windy day or constantly have to be pulling it down.  But when I’m on vacation or in a hot, humid destination (hello, Bali!), I love to pack a bunch of shorter dresses for travel — especially wrap dresses as they are so flattering!  And bonus if they are comfy and breathable fabrics.

Having a selection of prints and colors on hand is great too — pair a dark colored maxi dress with a jacket and booties and your ready to hit the town for an evening out!  Or, throw on a casual, lighter colored dress for a day of sight seeing.  Colorful or floral prints on dresses are great for girls brunches, tropical vacations or just about any other day activities.

So, where do I shop for dresses?  While I’m traveling, I always have my eye out for unique items but when I’m home, I don’t have a ton of time to go out shopping.  Instead, I’ll shop for a few items on Amazon before I leave for a trip.  That’s right — Amazon has some amazing dress options that are perfect for travel, most for a very reasonable price!

TIPS FOR SHOPPING ON AMAZON

I’ve had a ton of experience shopping on Amazon and have learned a few tips and tricks along the way.  Here’s what to look out for:

• Always read the reviews!  Look for items that are highly rated and read what the reviewers have to say.  Was the fabric as described?  Was the color or print different than what was pictured? What was the shipping time?  If there are no reviews at all, it’s probably best to avoid it.  If you’re really interested in an item, you can always bookmark it and check back periodically to see if anyone reviews it!
• Beware of fake reviews.  Yes, this happens!  Fake reviews are usually pretty easy to spot — they are repetitive, overly positive and usually have bad grammar or English, and give little details about the item.
• Always read the sizing.  Amazon has a feature on most items that allows you to see what percentage of reviews indicate that the item runs true to size, small or larger than expected.  Look through the reviews and see what reviewers who have ordered the style and size you’re interested in have to say.  Even better if they’ve uploaded a photo — you can see what it looks like on various body types!
• Understand the return policy.  Return policies can vary by seller and item on Amazon.  If you are taking a chance on an item, make sure you understand all the details of their return policy before purchasing.
