While white washed houses and stunning sunsets over Oia are typically what come to mind when Santorini is mentioned, there is now another spot I can’t help but think of when reminiscing on my time on Santorini. It’s an idyllic cove with turquoise water, delicious seafood restaurants and… incredible cliff jumping!
Read below for my experience at Ammoudi Bay!
– How To Get There –
Ammoudi Bay is easily accessible from Oia by foot — you can walk down the 278+ steps and reach the bay in about 15 minutes! Otherwise, Amoudi Bay can be reached via road by ATV, car or taxi but be aware that parking can be tricky.
– Dining at Ammoudi Bay –
Exploring the island sure can work up an appetite! Ammoudi Bay has several restaurants all serving up fresh seafood and Greek specialties. Check out Taverna Kantina or Ammoudi Fish Tavern for a delicious meal right on the water!
Both restaurants came highly recommended — we chose to eat at Taverna Kantina and were not disappointed. This waterfront taverna serves up local favorites with fresh ingredients and seafood caught daily. You cannot beat sitting on the water surrounded by the striking red cliffs!
– Cliff Jumping –
We were totally unaware that there was a cliff jumping spot at Ammoudi Bay but when we saw groups of people coming from around the corner of the red cliff, we had to investigate!
When arriving at Ammoudi Bay from either the steps or the road, you’ll want to walk past all the restaurants (to the left, if you are looking out at the sea!) and follow the little foot path around the bend. After about a 5-10 minute walk, you’ll reach the cliff jumping spot! It’s located on a little island that is an easy swim from shore and has a platform that is perfect for jumping.
