Known for its snowcapped mountains, prestigious film festival and abundance of winter activities, Park City has become one of the largest ski destinations in the US. A quick flight from most west coast cities makes quaint and charming Park City a convenient destination for your next winter getaway.
Read below for the ultimate guide to Park City, Utah!
WHAT TO DO
This winter wonderland has tons to offer.
- Ski or Snowboard: Let’s start with the obvious! Park City has two world-class ski resorts to explore: Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort. Park City recently became the largest ski area in the US when two of its ski resorts merged to form what is now Park City Mountain Resort (with the new Quiksilver Gondola connecting the two). Deer Valley is a skier’s only mountain and is known for its perfectly groomed slopes and upscale lodging.
- Snow Shoe: Park City has several groomed trails specifically for snow shoeing. So rent some shoes and strap up! Or if you’re looking for a guide, there are several tour companies (like White Pine Touring) that offer personalized snowshoe tours!
- Dog Sledding: Because who wouldn’t want to spend the day with cute sled pups?! Lucky for you, there are several private dog sledding companies that will take you out for a ride!
- See a Show: Park City’s music venue, Park City Live, brings some big acts to this small town.
- Ice Skating: Strap on your skates and hit the city’s outdoor ice rink located at the base of Park City Mountain.
- Relax at a Spa: There’s no better way to unwind after a long ski day than with a hot stone massage! Pamper yourself at the ultra luxurious spa at the Montage Deer Valley or the Aura Spa on Main St for some moderately priced treatments.
- Go Shopping: Stroll along historic Main Street and you’ll find quaint shops and boutiques with local treasures. You may even spot some of Banksy’s work!
- Ice Castles: These stunning ice installations have been popping up in select locations throughout the US and Canada, including Utah! Just a 25-minute drive from Park City, Midway boasts its very own Ice Castle — perfect for a winter wonderland photo op! Tip: just make sure to check opening dates and hours as the Ice Castles are seasonal.
WHERE TO DINE
Park City has no shortage of restaurants but these are the standouts.
- High West Distillery: This distillery and restaurant is a town favorite for its small-batch spirits and delicious, indulgent menu. What’s a mountain getaway without some fondue?!
- Tupelo: This was one of my favorite meals in Park City! Their warm, rustic meets modern ambience, attentive service and delicious, innovative menu made for a perfect dinner after a long ski day.
- Sushi: With fresh fish flown in daily, you can’t go wrong with Yuki Yama Sushi. For an upscale sushi experience, check out Yama Sushi at the Montage Deer Valley Resort — their dishes were all-star and I’m still dreaming of their black sesame macarons.
- Handle: Excellent dinner option serving new American with local ingredients.
- Riverhorse on Main: For an upscale dining experience, check out this tried and true favorite.
- Harvest: For a delicious breakfast spot with healthy offerings, look no further than this quaint spot right off Main St.
- Glitretind Restaurant: Famous for their Sunday brunch buffet, Glitretind is located right on the Deer Valley slopes at the Stein Eriksen Lodge.
- No Name Saloon & Grill: One of the most popular bars in town, No Name is a great place to grab a drink and some quick food (think: burgers and beer) and enjoy their rooftop views overlooking Main Street.
- Pink Elephant Coffee Shop: I loved stopping at this cute coffee shop (located above a clothing store right on Main St) for its unique offerings like lavender and charcoal lattes!
WHERE TO STAY
From luxurious resorts to cozy home rentals, there’s somewhere for everyone in Park City.
- Montage Deer Valley: If you are looking for a five-star getaway, then this is the resort for you! The hotel chain has become known for its magnificent, upscale resorts and Deer Valley is no different. Boasting several restaurants including a brunch buffet, sushi restaurant and pub featuring a bowling alley, you won’t even have to leave the resort. They even have a Veuve Clicquot branded yurt serving up champagne by the glass or bottle for all your après ski needs!
- Stein Eriksen Lodge: This ski-in-ski-out lodge is located right on the slopes of Deer Valley and is considered one of the most luxurious resorts in town.
- Hyatt Place: With its close proximity to the slopes, spacious rooms and reasonable prices, this hotel is a great option at a moderate price point!

I lived in SLC for a year and made several trips up to Park City. I was always super surprised by how much such a small town had to offer. BTW… I’ve met that bowl of fondue before, so seeing it again immediately made my stomach rumble. haha!
Great post!

Hahah no way!! That was probably the best fondue I’ve had in a while. Gotta go back soon and get it 🙂
