Joshua Tree has become a popular weekend getaway for LA dwellers and road trippers of the southwest… and for good reason! This eclectic, desert town is filled with adventure, beauty and trees straight out of a Dr. Seuss book.
Read below for the Ultimate Guide to Joshua Tree!
Once you arrive in Joshua Tree, you’ll immediately notice the slower pace of life, the out-of-this-world landscape features and the funky, good vibes.
WHAT TO DO
Joshua Tree is home to one of the most beautiful national parks… but also has more to offer!
- Joshua Tree National Park: Visit the park for hiking, rock climbing, camping and stargazing!
- Thrift Shopping: Joshua Tree has some great vintages shops like Hoof + The Horn and The End.
- Explore Pioneertown: Go explore this old western movie set with some great photo ops!
- See Live Music: There are a few spots around Joshua Tree that have live music — check out Joshua Tree Saloon or Pappy + Harriet’s!
- Visit the Integraton: Enjoy a sound bath at this historical structure to relax and rejuvenate.
WHERE TO DINE
With several restaurant options in town, these stood apart from the rest.
- Joshua Tree Coffee Company: I was pleasantly surprised to find an amazing coffee shop in Joshua Tree! This place is the real deal with knowledgable baristas and locally roasted coffee.
- The Natural Sisters Cafe: It’s always nice to have quick and healthy options while traveling! This cafe serves up vegetarian sandwiches, salads and smoothies and is great for lunch on the way to the park.
- Sam’s Indian Food + Pizza: I know what you’re thinking: indian food and pizza? But don’t rule it out too quick because it’s delicious!
- La Copine: This hip, modern restaurant serves delicious food from 2 – 7pm so stop by for lunch or dinner! Plan to put your name on the waiting list if you stop by on a weekend (unfortunately they don’t take reservations!).
- Pappy + Harriet’s: Top-knotch barbecue in the middle of an old western movie set?! Yes, please!
- Frontier Cafe: This cute little coffee shop and cafe serves up sandwiches, salads and tartines. Their avocado tartine may be the best I’ve ever had!
WHERE TO STAY
Joshua Tree has everything from wellness spas to glamping tents!
- Joshua Tree Acres: If you’re a fan of glamping (like I am!), than you’ll love this retreat with vintage airstreams, string lights and retro vibes!
- Pioneertown Motel: This updated motel was once frequented by western movie stars in the 1940s (while filming on set in Pioneertown!). It’s conveniently located within a few minutes walk of Pappy + Harriet’s!
