Ahhh the Cotswolds… I’m not sure there is anywhere else in the world that has that cozy, homey feeling quite like this part of England! The Cotswolds is an area of the English countryside made up of quaint villages, charming houses with thatched roofs, and streets lined with delightful pubs, tea rooms and inns. And all just a few hours’ drive from bustling London.
Here are 20 photos to inspire you to visit the Cotswolds!
After spending a few days exploring busy, beautiful London, we were ready to relax in the English countryside! We hopped aboard the train and were trading in city views for rural views within half an hour. While enjoying the views, we were offered a selection of tea and coffee — why is it that Europe has such wonderful trains!?
Once we arrived to our first destination — the charming town of Chipping Norton — we checked into the beautiful Soho Farmhouse hotel. To say this is just a hotel though is an understatement. With 80+ cabins, several restaurants, a cinema, countless farm animals, and countryside activities, this is a complete country getaway.
We settled into our cabin that was situated on a picturesque pond and got cozy by the fire.
The next few days were spent soaking in everything the English countryside has to offer. We rode bikes all around, saying hello to farm animals and cruising down country lanes. Days were finished with long soaks in the tub, reading books and afternoon tea with scones and clotted cream — what could be better?
On our last morning in Chipping Norton, we decided to try clay pigeon shooting. Our instructor taught us how to hold and fire the gun and I even managed to shoot a few of the targets!
We set off for our next stop, Babington House, a Georgian manor in the quaint town of Babington in Somerset county. Pulling up to the manor, we were blown away by the picturesque property sprawling 18 acres of British countryside.
After settling into our stunning room — hello, interior design goals! — we set off to explore the property. After spotting swans and a family of baby ducks on the lake, we tried our hand at croquet and then watched the sunset behind the manor… it felt more like we were in a storybook than real life!
