Looking for the best hotel to stay at in Mayakoba, Mexico? Here are my Rosewood Mayakoba reviews!
Rosewood Mayakoba is one of the top hotels in Mexico and definitely one of the most luxurious hotels in Riviera Maya. I’ve been lucky enough to visit twice in the last year and have absolutely fallen in love with the property.
From its idyllic stretch of white sand beach to its unique location on a freshwater lagoon, this hotel has unbelievable natural beauty and a specialness that’s hard to describe. Plus, the 5-star service, incredible restaurants and tranquil spa make this an unforgettable luxury stay.
Here’s my experience staying at Rosewood Mayakoba!
About Rosewood Mayakoba Mexico
Less than an hour south of Cancun International Airport, Rosewood Mayakoba is located on a seaside lagoon surrounded by lush jungle. It’s one of four resorts in the Mayakoba complex which is interconnected by a network of canals through the natural lagoons. Mayakoba also features a championship golf course, a shopping village modeled after an authentic Mexican town square and biking trails.
Rosewood Mayakoba has 129 suites, numerous restaurant concepts, a wellness spa, beach clubs and three main resort pool areas (including an adults only pool!).
Rosewood Mayakoba Rooms
There are a number of different suite types at Rosewood Mayakoba so you can choose the style that best suits your needs. Looking for a Rosewood Mayakoba overwater bungalow? Try one of the stunning Lagoon Suites that overlook the picturesque lagoon. If you’d prefer a view of the Caribbean Sea, check out one of the Rooftop Ocean View Suites. And if you want to be on the sand, then you’ll definitely want to book the Beachfront Studio Suite!
Also, there are quite a few options for groups and families with two or three bedroom lagoon villas. Plus, a spacious four-bedroom beachfront presidential suite. We were lucky enough to tour the Rosewood Mayakoba Presidential Suite on our last visit and I totally fell in love with the huge infinity pool overlooking the beach!
Rosewood Mayakoba cost ranges from around $700 to up to $10,000 per night depending on the suite or villa and time of year. So it’s definitely a luxury getaway perfect for romantic trips, honeymoons or lux family vacations!
Rosewood Mayakoba Restaurants
Fusing both traditional Mexican and international cuisines, the restaurants at Rosewood Mayakoba do not disappoint.
Enjoy a tropical breakfast at Casa Del Lago with lagoon views, lunch by the sea at Punta Bonita or a fun Asian inspired dinner at Agave Azul.
My favorite meal was the beachfront dinner experience! There were pop-up food stands serving various delicious cuisines from around the world.
Finally, if you’re wondering, is Rosewood Mayakoba all inclusive? The resort does not offer any all inclusive packages but with eight restaurants and bars, there is a variety of cuisines and range in price points for every taste!
Rosewood Mayakoba Spa
Located on its own private island in the lagoon, the spa is a peaceful retreat focusing on wellness and rejuvenation.
With a private pool, relaxation lounge, twelve treatment rooms, yoga pavilion and fitness studio, it’s easy to spend an entire day at the Rosewood Mayakoba Spa.
From massages to skincare to beauty, there are many different spa offerings that cater to your every need. And, many of the treatments pay homage to the Mayan medicinal rituals to heal and protect.
Activities
Within Mayakoba, there are quite a few activities. Check out the farmer’s market, shopping and cooking classes at El Pueblito. Take a boat ride through the lagoon, explore Mayakoba’s own cenote, or bike through the many nature trails.
If you’re a golf enthusiast, you won’t want to miss Mayakoba’s El Camaleón. It’s the first PGA Tour Golf Course in Latin America and was designed by Greg Norman.
However, my favorite excursion was spending the day on Mayakoba’s 55’ VanDutch Yacht! We had an amazing time swimming in the Caribbean Sea, snorkeling and having lunch on the water.
Outside of Mayakoba, there are tons of other day trip options as well. Swim at nearby cenotes, explore Playa del Carmen or Cozumel, or take a trip to one of the Mayan ruins.
My Experience
After arriving at the resort, we were whisked away in a private boat through the lagoon to our beachfront suite. Gliding through the turquoise waters, we took in the jungle views and wildlife — even spotting a crocodile! — before arriving at our own little slice of paradise.
That was the first time I’d ever arrived to a hotel room by boat. What an amazing entrance!
The beachfront suites are beautifully appointed and feel both luxurious and secluded. The private plunge pools overlook the sparkling Caribbean sea.
We were so happy in our Beachfront Suite that it was tough to peel ourselves away to explore other areas of the resort! With your own private plunge pool and beachfront… what more could you possibly want?
Each suite is assigned a dedicated butler associate who can be reached via the resort’s app for any butler service needs. Golf cart shuttles, restaurant or spa reservations… basically anything you need! The level of service at Rosewood Mayakoba was incredible and we weren’t left wanting for anything ever.
So, after spending three amazing days at the property, we vowed to come back soon… and did. It was THAT good. If you’re looking for a luxury getaway in gorgeous Riviera Maya, Rosewood Mayakoba is a must!
