The rooms at Pagosa Springs Resort are designed to be cozy, comfortable, and inviting, with a variety of options to suit every type of traveler. From the standard rooms to the luxurious suites, all accommodations are thoughtfully appointed with warm and cozy mountain décor.
Many rooms offer stunning views of the San Juan River or the iconic hot springs, with amenities like plush bedding, complimentary robes, and in-room coffee makers for a relaxing stay. The more upscale options include spacious layouts, private balconies, and added touches like fireplaces for an extra layer of indulgence. It’s the perfect retreat after a day of soaking in the mineral-rich pools!
We stayed in one of the Luxury King Suites and it was nice and spacious. There was a separate bedroom that connected to the living area with a couch, dining table, and kitchenette. It was perfect for us since we were on a long road trip and we had lots of luggage, as well as food and drinks to store in the fridge!
Amenities
Of course, the top amenity of the hotel is the 24-hour access to the resort’s incredible geothermal pools, so you can soak day or night inn the mineral hot springs.
There are specific pools and areas that only hotel guests have access to, as well as the extended hours (non-guests only have access from 9am to 9:30pm).
The full-service spa provides indulgent body treatments like massages and facials to enhance your relaxation. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the on-site fitness center, while the resort’s Riverside Cafe offers delicious, healthy dining options to complement your wellness journey.
Other perks include complimentary robes and towels, a locker room for the hot springs, free Wi-Fi, and a variety of room options to suit different preferences. The resort also offers guided wellness experiences — like aqua yoga — making it a true haven for relaxation and rejuvenation!
Hot Springs
This Pagosa Springs Resort review wouldn’t be complete without discussing their famous hot springs… And the hot springs at Pagosa Springs Resort are nothing short of magical!
Fed by the world’s deepest geothermal hot spring, the resort boasts over 25 mineral-rich soaking pools, each with varying temperatures ranging from 83°F to 114°F.
The pools are artfully designed and nestled along the scenic San Juan River, offering stunning mountain views and a serene ambiance. Whether you’re soaking under the stars or relaxing in the early morning mist, the therapeutic waters are believed to rejuvenate the body and mind… And, who wouldn’t want that?!
We spent hours trying all the different pools — they range in temperature so you can switch up your soaking experience. And each of the geothermal soaking pools is situated in a different location; some with mountain views and some nestled right in the bank of the river!
So, every pool offers a unique experience, making it a true paradise for relaxation and renewal.
There’s even an area where you can jump into the river for a “cold plunge.” I wasn’t brave enough to but my husband did it and enjoyed it. So for those that love cold plunges, you won’t be disappointed!

What is the Best Time to go to Pagosa Springs?
The best time to visit Pagosa Springs depends on the experience you’re looking for, as this mountain town offers something magical year-round!
- Winter (December to February): Perfect for soaking in the hot springs surrounded by snowy landscapes. It’s also ideal for winter sports like skiing and snowboarding at nearby Wolf Creek Ski Area, known for its epic powder.
- Spring (March to May): A quieter time with fewer crowds. The melting snow fills the rivers, making it a great time for fishing or enjoying a peaceful soak in the hot springs.
- Summer (June to August): Great for outdoor adventures like hiking, mountain biking, and river rafting. Warm days and cool evenings make it perfect for exploring the San Juan Mountains and enjoying the springs after an active day.
- Fall (September to November): A stunning time to visit with fewer visitors and brilliant fall foliage. The crisp air and golden aspen leaves create a picturesque setting for hiking and soaking.
Personally, I loved visiting the Pagosa hot springs in the winter. Not only is the scenery stunning, but getting into the steamy pools when it’s so cold out is just so satisfying!
What to Pack for the Hot Springs
Packing and dressing for the Pagosa hot springs properly will ensure you have a comfortable, relaxing experience! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Swimwear: Bring a comfortable swimsuit. If you plan to soak multiple times, packing an extra suit is a good idea.
- Cover-Up or Robe: A cozy cover-up or robe is great for walking between pools, especially during cooler weather. If you’re a guest at The Springs Resort, you’ll find a robe in your room!
- Flip-Flops or Water Shoes: Protect your feet on wet surfaces or cold pathways with slide-on footwear. As hotel guests, we were provided slippers that we used around the hot springs!
- Towel: If you’re a resort guest or purchase the Relaxation Day Pass, The Springs will provide you with a towel but you can bring one if you prefer your own.
- Reusable Water Bottle: The mineral waters can be dehydrating, so staying hydrated is crucial.
- Moisturizer and Lip Balm: The combination of hot geothermal water and dry mountain air can leave your skin feeling parched. Bring a good moisturizer and an SPF lip balm.
- Sunscreen: If you’re soaking during the day, don’t forget sunscreen to protect against UV rays reflecting off the water. Just make sure to use a sunscreen with all-natural materials so you don’t damage the pools!
- Hair Tie, Cap or Hat: If you want to keep your hair dry or out of the water, pack a hair tie or swim cap. Personally, I bought a beanie to keep my head warm and tucked my hair into it to keep it dry!
- Dry Clothes: Bring comfortable clothes to change into after soaking. Warm layers are especially nice in cooler seasons.
- Small Bag: A small waterproof bag to carry your essentials, like your towel, water bottle, and personal items, will keep everything organized.
My Pagosa Springs Resort Review
The Springs Resort is an absolute gem and a great place to soak, relax, and rejuvenate!
From Oregon to Utah, I’ve been to hot springs around the US… But I’ve never had the opportunity to stay at a resort with their own hot springs. It was so nice being able to soak in the pools and then have the convenience of popping back to our room for a shower and dry clothes.
The hot springs are, of course, the highlight of the hotel! My husband and I loved how many different pools there were to choose from — and that they varied in size, temperature, and location. We also found that it was never too crowded and we rarely had to share a pool with anyone else.
Plus, the position of the pools along the river make for an especially beautiful setting!
So, whether you’re seeking rejuvenation or outdoor thrills, Pagosa Springs is the perfect escape with a friendly, laid-back vibe that’ll make you feel right at home!
That’s a wrap on my Pagosa Springs resort review! If you’re a hot spring lover like me, then you’re sure to love visiting these gorgeous geothermal pools in Colorado.
