Deckman’s has become one of the most popular restaurants in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico’s premiere wine region, and for good reason. With its rustic charm, vineyard setting and Michelin-starred chef, Deckman’s is the perfect spot for a post-vineyard dinner in Baja.

About Deckman’s
After a formidable stint in Europe and several other culinary destinations, Head Chef Drew Deckman is committed to bringing culinary excellence to his new home of Baja California.
Deckman’s is the ultimate blend of Michelin-quality (one of Deckman’s German kitchens once earned the coveted star) and Baja charm.
There are three locations in Baja: Mogor, Conchas de Piedra and Agua Mala. While visiting Valle de Guadalupe, I was able to dine at the Deckman’s at Mogor location.
Tucked away in one of the premier vistas of the Valle de Guadalupe, the restaurant is not hard to find, yet plenty secluded. This spit BBQ, open kitchen layout lets you soak in the views on one side and the meticulous food prep on the other.
The Food at Deckman’s
With a focus on “Slow Food,” the menu is full of local fare from the estate grown vegetables, house made cheese and Baja peninsula fresh catch.
Our table had fresh abalone with beets and sea urchin, as well as grilled pork served two ways, featuring the full flavors of the spit grill. My mouth is still watering thinking about the meal — which was easily one of the best I’ve this year! Another highlight from our experience was the full list of local wines. And by local I mean like down the road or from the vines in front of the restaurant local! Featuring wines from all over the Valle de Guadalupe, Deckman’s at Mogor has everything you need for an excellent dining experience.
Know Before You Go
- There are three locations so make sure to check each location’s hours and address before you go.
- Reservations are recommended via phone or online.
- While English is spoken at the restaurant, it helps to have a little knowledge of Spanish as it relates to the menu, and if you’re not sure, just ask!
- The restaurant itself is close to many of the top wineries in the valley so plan a full day in advance and beware, the roads at night are not well lit and being prepared is always a good idea.
