Belmond, a luxury hotel chain, is made up of 46 hotels, river cruises and train experiences around the world — each with its own unique charm. I’ve been lucky enough to experience several Belmond hotels and found that each were totally unique properties but all maintained the Belmond standards of luxury, service and beauty.
Belmond La Residencia, located in a small village on the Spanish island of Mallorca, was one of the more serene and charming hotels I’ve visited.
Here’s everything you need to know about staying at Belmond La Residencia!
About Belmond La Residencia
Perched above the Mediterranean sea on the Spanish island of Mallorca is the charming town of Deia.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and artist haven, Deia is an enchanting village that feels more like an undiscovered paradise than a tourist destination.
Belmond La Residencia is located directly next to the village with the lush mountains on one side and views of the village on the other. The hotel’s twin manor houses are nestled in the hillside surrounded by olive trees giving the hotel the appearance of blending in with the village rather than being a hotel.
With gorgeous rooms, an award-winning spa, art gallery, two outdoor swimming pools and several restaurants, La Residencia has everything you need (and more!).
The Rooms at La Residencia
The hotel boasts 73 guest rooms and suites throughout multiple renovated 16th and 17th century buildings giving each room a unique layout and view.
Ranging from guest rooms to suites to a three-story villa, there are plenty of options for different group sizes, budgets and needs.
It’s all in the details at Belmond. The rooms have been designed in a modern Mallorcan style curated with local artwork and antiques.
Many of the rooms have sweeping views of Deia and the Tramuntana Mountains complete with balconies and plunge pools so you can enjoy the island without even needing to leave your room!
Food + Drink at La Residencia
La Residencia has four restaurants onsite: El Olivo, Cafe Miro, Son Fony and a poolside restaurant.
El Olivo offers fine dining at its best in a charming outdoor setting with delicious Mediterranean dishes and an award-winning wine list.
We dined at El Olivo for dinner one evening and were delighted at the ambience. Surrounded by olive trees and candles, this was probably one of the most romantic restaurants I’ve been to!
Cafe Miro is the more casual restaurant option for dinner and evening cocktails featuring a beautiful patio with views of the village above.
For breakfast, Son Fony offers a Mediterranean buffet breakfast by the pool with views of both Deia and the gorgeous mountains. And, last but not least, one of my favorite things to do at a Belmond hotel is order breakfast to the room. Their breakfast spreads are out of this world — and what better way is there to enjoy your private patio views?!
Activities at La Residencia
I’ve come to know Belmond hotels for their excellent ability to embrace each hotel’s location and offer guests activities that immerse them in the local culture.
La Residencia does just that! Embracing the artistic spirit of Deia, guests are offered private classes with local artist to learn either painting, sculpture or ceramics. Or, take an art tour of downtown Deia and meet with local artists!
With such a beautiful coastline, you can be sure there are plenty of activities to get guests out exploring! Take a boat excursion on the coast or see the island from above via a hot air balloon or helicopter.
Or if relaxing is more your style, indulge in a luxurious spa treatment. Make sure to take advantage of the stunning indoor pool, jacuzzi and terraces!
Helpful Info
- Reservations can be made online.
- Belmond La Residencia is located on the north-west coast of Mallorca (less busy than other parts of the island!)
- The nearest airport to Deia is Palma de Mallorca, about 45 minutes from Belmond La Residencia. We rented a car at the airport and drove to Deia and had no problems. In fact, we enjoyed the windy drive along the coastline and stopped in a few picturesque towns along the way!
