And speaking of unique accommodations, you’ve probably already seen the amazing treehouse hotel, Azulik, on your Instagram feed. Some of the most picture-worthy spots in the hotel are at the iconic nest tables overlooking the sea and jungle.
Here’s everything you need to know about booking a nest at Azulik!
About Azulik
Azulik is one of the most well-known hotels in Tulum, Mexico and has become famous for its treehouse-like architecture. Nestled in the jungle along the beach, Azulik blends in with its natural surroundings so you feel completely immersed in the environment.
Azulik’s flagship restaurant, Kin Toh, serves innovative Mayan-Mexican cuisine in a trendy atmosphere. The restaurant is located on the second floor and feels like dining in a treehouse with views of the jungle on either side.
Kin Toh is considered a fine dining restaurant with a 5 course tasting menu option (at $135 per person) with unique ingredients like corn chochoyotes, xoconostle (a Mexican cactus fruit), huitlacoche, corn ash bread and sikil-pak (a Mayan pumpkin seed dip) to name a few.

About the Nests
At Kin Toh, above the indoor restaurant are private “nests” or tables that are built on to the rooftop. These private tables sit about 40 feet above ground level so they give you 360 degree views over the jungle and Caribbean Sea. And with unique views like this, Azulik’s nests are the best place to watch the sun set behind the jungle in Tulum!
How much does it cost to book a nest at Azulik?
Each nest has a different rental price (which is fixed, regardless of number of people in your group) which I’ll go into in more detail below. In addition, all nests have a minimum consumption cost for food and beverages of 3,600 Mexican pesos ($200 USD) per person plus a 15% service fee. Taxes are included in the rental price.
Lastly, note that these are the prices quoted when booking a nest table at Azulik in March 2022. Prices may have changed so it’s best to contact the restaurant directly to get the latest information on nest booking!
Which Azulik Nest Should You Book?
Kin Toh has 10 nests with variations in size, maximum number of people and price. Here is a breakdown of each nest at Azulik including the costs, size and location of each.
Copa del Pintor Nest
Copa del Pintor is the largest nest where the hotel hosts a nightly “Sunset Experience.” This nest has the highest capacity of 40 people and is open to the general public so you don’t have to make a private booking. In fact, they don’t accept reservations and welcome guests on a first-come first-serve basis. The experience is daily from 5pm to 7:30pm so you can sip on some cocktails while enjoying the sunset and jaw-dropping views.
The price of entrance to Copa del Pintor is 1,000 pesos per person and includes a cocktail in your entrance fee.
Also, you can rent this nest out for a small private event like a marriage proposal, elopement or anniversary celebration.
Lounge Nests
The lounge nests are the only nests inside of the Kin Toh restaurant. They are large circular lounge beds with a round table in the middle and can hold up to six people. The Lounge Nests are built around the main lounging net so they overlook the jungle as you enter the restaurant.
Because the Lounge Nests are beds, in my opinion, they are better suited for lounging with a cocktail over having a nice dinner with several courses.
These are the least expensive nests at a rental price of 4,000 pesos (or $230 USD) for the evening.
Romantic Nests
The aptly named Romantic Nests are cozy outdoor nests that fit two people. There are two Romantic Nests available and both are situated on the outside of Azulik facing east. Diners can sit snugly on a white loveseat with views of the Caribbean Sea and hotel.
The Romantic Nests have a nightly rental price of 7,000 pesos (or $390 USD).
Monkey Nests
There are three Monkey Nests available and they each have a capacity of 10 people. These nests are all located next to each other and are situated just outside of the far end of the Kin Toh restaurant near the suspension bridge. The best view from these nests is towards the west so you can watch the sun go down over the jungle. Note that these nests are about the same level as the restaurant so the views will be similar but, of course, you’ll have them all to yourself!
The Monkey Nests have a nightly rental price of 12,000 pesos (or $670 USD).
Starcatcher Nest and Haha Nest
There is one Starcatcher Nest and one Haha Nest and they each have a capacity of 8 people. These nests are located next to each other on top of the Kin Toh restaurant giving them some of the best views! To reach the nests, guests will need to go up a set of stairs just outside of Kin Toh by the suspension bridge.
The Haha Nest has a nice unobstructed sea view looking east while the Starcatcher Nest has more of a sunset view over the jungle.
The Starcatcher and Haha Nests each have a nightly rental price of 14,000 pesos (or $780 USD).
Antiguo Nest
The Antiguo Nest is unique in that it actually looks like a bird’s nest! There is just one and, to reach it, guests exit off of the Kin Toh restaurant to a little suspension bridge that leads to the nest. This 10-person nest is at the same level as the Kin Toh restaurant and is situated in the jungle between Kin Toh and the hotel giving is a bit of sea and jungle views.
The Antiguo Nest has a nightly rental price of 16,000 pesos (or $890 USD).
White Rabbit Nest
There is just one White Rabbit Nest and it sits high above the Kin Toh restaurant so it has some of the most spectacular views at Azulik! There is an 8 person capacity for this nest and its located just off of the Kin Toh restaurant, near the Romantic Nests, up a short set of stairs.
The Antiguo Nest has a nightly rental price of 14,000 pesos (or $780 USD).
My Experience at the Azulik Nests
I’ve had several experiences in the Azulik nests in the Monkey, Antiguo and White Rabbit Nests. My favorite experience was in the White Rabbit nest since we had incredible views of both the Caribbean Sea, the hotel and the sun setting over the Mayan jungle. From the service to the food, the entire experience was spectacular and a great way to celebrate a birthday!
After we finished dinner, it started to sprinkle rain so they were nice enough to accommodate us in one of the unoccupied Lounge Nests indoors so we could have dessert. It was nice to be able to experience both indoors and outdoors in the same evening.
While the nests are definitely a splurge, I found it was a really special way to celebrate an occasion with a big group. It is truly a one-of-a-kind experience!
What to Know Before Booking a Nest
- When you book a nest, you have the nest from opening to closing of the restaurant which is 5:30pm – 11pm. They require that you arrive at 5:30pm with a 15 minute grace period (otherwise there is a $50 USD charge). You’ll want to arrive on time anyway so you can really enjoy the sunset!
- Changes (including cancellation) can be made to the reservation up to 2 hours prior. In case of no shows, the credit card used for the booking will be charged the cost of the nest rental.
- The dress code is smart casual and flip flops, sportswear, swimwear and tank tops are not permitted. But make sure to wear comfortable shoes because the walkways and stairs can be tricky with heels!
- The restaurant is adults only so be sure to leave the kids at home. Note there are no pets permitted either.
- Valet parking is not available so taking a taxi (or walking if your hotel is nearby) is your best bet.

Hey Viktoriya! As of the prices quoted in March 2022, the rental price did not include food.
