Thinking about planning a trip to Mexico? Consider Tulum for your next adventure! Located on the Yucatan peninsula, this beachside town is growing in size but is still untouched by mass development.
Here are a few of the amazing reasons to visit Tulum!
1 – Stunning beaches
Known for it’s turquoise water and white sand beaches, this is one of the top reasons to visit Tulum. Spend the day relaxing by the water’s edge soaking up the sun and listening to the waves crash.
2 – Wildlife
From sea turtles to string rays to crocodiles to jaguars, Tulum’s ocean and jungle habitats are home to a diverse group of wildlife. Take a tour of Sian Ka’an, Tulum’s protected biosphere, for a chance to spot some animals!
3 – Food (& Drinks!)
When in Mexico, enjoy a passion fruit margarita and tacos, tacos, and more tacos… Tulum has some of the best! Make sure to try Cochonita Pibil, a regional favorite. And for dessert, grab a refreshing paleta!
4 – Ruins
Tulum is home to several ancient Mayan ruins right on the ocean’s edge. There are also a few ruins within driving distance like Coba and Chichen Itza.

5 – Cenotes
Cenotes are beautiful, natural fresh water pools often with caves where you can swim and dive. Make sure to check out Cenote Dos Ojos, Cenote Aktun-Ha and Cenote Azul – these were my absolute favorites!

6 – The Pueblo
While there, make sure to visit the town (‘Tulum Pueblo’). You can rent a bike from one of the many rental shops and enjoy the 20-minute ride into town! Once there, spend the day browsing the local shops and stop at my favorite paleta shop: Flor de Michoacan.
